Challenge: Publish 100 Pieces of Content Before January 1st
--
Are you up for a challenge?
I set a goal in December 2021 to publish 1,000,000 words in 2022. I wanted all of that to be on my own blogs and Medium articles — not including what I write for clients.
I also wanted to publish 350 new articles on Medium — about 30 every month.
As I’m writing this, I’ve written and published 221 articles on Medium. I’ll be able to publish ~10 more articles in September, and then I’ll need to write and publish 40 articles in October, November, and December.
Realistically, I don’t think that’ll happen.
I’m aiming to publish 30–35 articles and end with a total around 325. There have been a few months where I wished I had published more, but it’s not the end of the world. I’ve ended up doing more client work and publishing less often on my own.
I want to challenge you to hit publish 100+ times by the end of the year.
Yes, that’s more than once a day.
Yes, that’s a lot of work.
You can come up with plenty of excuses not to do this. But what if you did it? I bet you’d feel like you conquered a mountain.
100 is a significant milestone
I’ve seen countless people start something new.
A new business. A blog. New website. Social media account. etc.
The excitement is there and they start strong.
The initial motivation lasts a few days or weeks, and then it fades. The posts become less frequent, and then they quietly disappear. I’ve done that with plenty of different projects. They sound fun — then reality sets in.
I could make a 10-page website from scratch over the weekend. That’s exciting and doesn’t take much work. I could start a new Instagram account and create 10 or 20 posts tomorrow.
100 is a much bigger milestone.
It’s not something you can do over a long weekend or when you’re still feeling the initial shot of energy.
If you want to post 100 articles on Medium, or your own website, you need to stay committed to the process.
