People are slowly realizing the dark side of entrepreneurship.
I remember when I was growing up entrepreneurship wasn’t really a thing. I graduated high school in 2012, and no one wanted to be an entrepreneur.
People owned businesses, but that was different.
They were already established, had employees, and a long track record of success.
I remember thinking that I never wanted to own a business. It seemed like an impossible and impractical feat. And none of my friends had any interest in it.
It wasn’t the cool thing.
People wanted to get a degree so they could get a decent job at a big company.
When you graduated high school, you could:
- Go to college (90% of people)
- Work at a restaurant or retail store for minimum wage (7%)
- Or join the military (3%)
Entrepreneurship didn’t become a real thing until a few years later.
Around 2014.
At that time, I was in the military and most people I went to high school with were in college, so I didn’t hear much about it.
