There’s a good chance that you’ve heard of FreshBooks — even if you’ve never used it. FreshBooks is an accounting software (SaaS). I’ve never used it myself, but they say they have 30+ million customers.

FreshBooks didn’t grow to the huge business that it is overnight.

One of their primary growth channels was, and is, SEO.

FreshBooks.com is ranking for hundreds of thousands of keywords. Some of the keywords they’re ranking for only get a few searches per day, like “how to say no to a potential client.”

Other keywords get 1,000+ searches every day, like “accounting management.”

Steve Toth was leading the SEO strategy at FreshBooks. Steve and the FreshBooks SEO team had a very effective SEO and content strategy that grew the website into a giant lead-gen machine. They published 100s of articles and ranked for 1,000s of relevant keywords.

You probably don’t have an SEO budget as big as FreshBooks did, but you can use similar strategies to get a lot more traffic to your site.

Here’s a quick overview of what they did to grow, and how you can implement a similar strategy.
